Philippine youth basketball team was formally presented to the public yesterday, hopeful that the program will culminate in the country's long cherished dream of finally qualifying to the Olympics, next slate in London in 2012.

Culled from an extensive, nationwide tryouts conducted by coach Franz Pumaren and brother Dindo, make up the youth team, whose training and international campaigns until 2010.

Coach Franz Pumaren presented the 16 members of the Nokia RP Youth training pool in the same well-attended affair at Teatrino in Greenhills.

A stint in the PBL and an extensive two-week training in the United States are the immediate activities by the RP youth team to be funded by Tao Corp. and Nokia.

NOKIA Pilipinas RP Youth Team Fly Via Qatar Airways Print E-mail

Tehran Iran - The National Youth team (NOKIA PILIPINA RP YOUTH TEAM) flies to Doha, Qatar via Qatar Airway. The team will be leaving the Philippines at 9PM Aug 25, 2008 and will have a connecting flight from Doha, Qatar to Tehran Iran for the FIBA Asia U18 Championship. Mr. Jun Sy Tao Corporations CEO will not be joining the team but instead Mr Joel Lopa will be making major Decisions for the teams trip. With the team is Mr Val Victa the teams media ang promotions manager. The visa for the media group was not approved. Communications from the game location is only via Email. Mr Victa will be sending information via Email to media groups here in the Philippines to keep the nation updated on the current game statistics.

 

The RPYOUTH team will be in group C, a group that is called "group of death". The group consists of Team Lebanon ang Team Chinese-Taipei. Coach Franz Pumare(Head Coach) took a two week leave from UAAP inorder to give way for the FIBA Asia U18 Championship in Tehran, Iran.
