hotel_lobby_web.jpgKuala Lumpur, Malaysia - The Nokia Pilipinas Youth Team have safely landed in Kuala Lumpur after a sleepy 3.20 hour flight via Air Asia, a Malaysian budget carrier that lands at the LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) 45 minutes from city proper.

After checking in at the Olympic Hotel, which is just a stone's throw from MABA stadium - the tournament site, the boys had a hearty dinner at Pik Wah restaurant, which is located right underneath the stadium. New recruits Norbert Torres and Kyle Pascual found the Malaysian fare "quite exotic" but the rest of the boys were right at home with the spice.  Mr. Jimmy Chan, a local businessman and partner of TAO Corp President Jun Sy toured the team around Chinatown and showed them where they could buy all their supplies and necessities. That was enough activity to drive the boys to "hit the sack" early on arrival day.

hainanese_chicken_dinner.jpgDay two, the boys hie off to the exclusive Bukit Kiara Equestrian Counry Club, where coach Franz Pumaren ran the team through their top secret drills and plays away from the prying eyes of the other teams. Bukit Kiara is a plush establishment located at the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur where, according to Mr. Chan, Malaysia's rich and famous reside.

After a three-hour practice, fitness coach Dan Rose brought the boys to Fitness First in Bukit Bintang for some strength building routines. That was enough to work up a big appetite! So the boys were treated to a hearty Hainanese chicken dinner at the Nasi Ayam Hainan Chee Meng Restaurant. Touted to be the inventor of this globally popular cuisine.

A night city tour and some shopping at the city's top malls (Pavillion Plaza, BB Plaza, Sungai Wang) capped the evening. The night also saw the arrival of SBP Executive Director Patrick Gregorio and his staff whom the team met up with at the Pavillion. That's all the fun they're allowed to have cause tomorrow's a big day. The team tackles defending champion Malaysia at 8:00 P.M. and coach Dan Rose has prescribed a spartan lunch of peanut butter sandwiches for them! Ahh..! The things that a soldier must do for love of country! Go get them boys! The entire country is behind you 100%! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!!!
