As Reported by: Isagani C.Garcia II

Los Angeles, CA – The Salesian High School basketball gymnasium was filled with anticipation and excitement.  The evening felt like a mid-summer’s night match up against two rivals where heat and humidity where major factors.  The Exhibition Game lived up to expectation as the RP Youth Team came back from a 22-point deficit in the 3rd quarter to beat the Hooptown All-Stars 62-61. The first half was a feeling out period where the RP Youth Team attempted various defensive strategies to keep Hooptown off balance.  The RP Youth Team deployed man-to-man full court pressure and half court traps to obtain easy steals, but Hooptown was steady sharing the basketball and hitting open shots.  Towards the end of the 1st half, Hooptown began to exercise its strength extending its lead to end the half with a 39-24 score.  game_4_floaters.jpg

Speaking before TAO Corporation's Breakfast of  Champions last March 10 at the Shangri-la Makati Ballroom, PLDT CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan shared his insights on corporate governance and ethics, sports and "Doing the Right Thing."  Mr.  Pangilinan lauded  TAO Corporation  President  Jun Sy and the TAO Community  for "supporting in a significant way the youth programs of the "Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas," and was "delighted" over the Community's  enthusiasm  for    sports.  According to Mr. Panglilinan, sports is "a strong metaphor for life," where excellence, focusing on goals and winning  the right or ethical way determines success or failure. He also stressed the passion that everyone must have to rise above trials and adversities and the courage to lose in order to win.  Team spirit and the selfless effort towards an objective were also pointed out by the prominent speaker. This echoes TAO's own commitment to teamwork where shared efforts are critical towards success.
