RP youth team joins PBL as guest squad

THE newly-formed Nokia Pilipinas Youth Team organized by the Basketball Association of the Philippines-Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (BAP-SBP) got a major boost after one of the country’s semi-professional basketball leagues agreed to have them as guest team. BAP-SBP secretary general Patrick Gregorio, who met with the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) board yesterday, said the PBL accepted the Nokia Pilipinas Youth team to play against the other PBL teams when the league opens on Feb. 23.

Local young basketeers and dribblers, this is your chance to become a member of the Philippine (RP) Youth Basketball Team that will see action in the 2010 Youth Olympic. The Basketball Association of the Philippines-Samahang Basketbolista ng Pilipinas (BAP-SBP) through its affiliate El Federacion Basketbolista de Zamboanga (FBZ) under president Pedro Alfaro Jr. announces the holding of the “Regional Try-outs for National Training Pool” for the RP Youth team at the Ateneo de Zamboanga covered courts at 8 a.m. On Saturday, February 2, 2008.
